I noticed this as I scanned the log:

"at GameStateManagement.MainMenuScreen.Update(GameTime gameTime, Boolean otherScreenHasFocus, Boolean coveredByOtherScreen)"

Not sure if it is related but, it might be helpful to note that I'm using a triple-head monitor setup with Nvidia surround and another monitor off to the right. My monitor 1 resolution is 5760x1080 or 6010x1080 if bezel corrected. Monitor two is off and not being used at the moment.

As the error says, the resolution is larger than what the game can handle.

Right now, the best fix is to locate the Options.xml file in Documents/Unclaimed World
Then edit the resolution setting and possibly the Full screen setting and try to restart the game.

I turned the other monitors off and set the resolution to a normal 19020x1080. I got the same error. A also tried flipping options in the XML. That was on version 0.5.

I will install and test on version 0.6 and post again.

This time nothing happens at all after launching. No error message, no black screen, just nothing. I am running a recent clean-install of Windows 8.1. I already have K-Lite and an up to date version of FFDShow installed, as I've seen others mention. K-Lite is standard for my setup.

I found these the application event log:

Making progress from a flat-out CTD, but I've still not been able to actually play your game.

The game now launches to a title screen with a backdrop and the story on the right but, nothing else. There's no menu buttons or 'press enter to start', etc, so I can't start the game.

I'm using Windows 8.1 Pro fully updated, DirectX is updated, one monitor 1920x1080, nvidia gtx770 with latest drivers.

Game version 0.0.0.13

Huh, it sounds strange that the menu panel is not displayed.

Perhaps the gui panel is placed outside of the screen bounds?

Maybe if you post a screenshot we can figure it out.

Strange, I have never seen that before...

I notice that the size of the image is 1280 x 1024.
Can you locate the Options.xml file (under Documents/Unclaimed World) and post its contents?

Yeah, it stretches to 1920x1080 when the game is launched but, that's the screenshot it grabbed. Options.xml is below.
